"The showroom gives us a chance to offer our customers the most original and imaginative designs, as well as pieces that reflect more classic tastes. We hand-pick pieces and constantly research trends and up-and-coming designers so that we can offer our customers a look that is truly unique." In addition to Mikolay"s designs in gold, semi-precious, and precious stones, the store also features pieces designed by Mauri Pioppo, who creates yoga-inspired jewelry, Sarah Perlis, Scott Colee, Karen Bizer, and Ilene Joy of Bedford. Desires by Mikolay is the only Westchester jeweler selling Italian-made Calgoro.

In addition to its uniquely designed jewelry, Desires by Mikolay is a full-service jeweler, with repair and redesign services on the premises. All repairs are done after careful examination of the piece, and some repairs are available with same-day-service. The jewelers at Desires by Mikolay - Scott Mikolay, jewelry repair expert Lawrence Mikolay, Jane Pieragostini, formerly of Philippus Jewelers in Mount Kisco, and Abby Frank, also previously with Philippus Jewelers -- have been trusted for decades with treasured jewelry belonging to Westchester residents.
Desires by Mikolay creates a total shopping experience for the senses with great attention to detail. Its 900-square-foot, Soho-inspired space combines a rich combination of textures, sight, taste, scent, and sound. The custom-made entryway uses both antique wrought iron and rich mahogany that is repeated throughout the store which boasts copper hues with shades of cream and navy blue. Walls are decorated with striking photographs by Jeffrey Fleisig, a local photographer. Framed photographs, which are numbered prints, are offered for sale. The store"s focal point is its custom-designed light-catching chandelier which simulates the look of thousands of diamonds.
"In addition to the store"s visual pleasures, the store feeds the senses with the aroma of calming incense, rhythmic background music, and refreshing wine, champagne, and sparkling water," says owner Mikolay. The music compositions are all European imports that invoke stimulation and liveliness.
In October, Desires by Mikolay will be donating a portion of its proceeds to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women in the United States. Owner Mikolay believes in giving back to the community and looks forward to developing relationships with non-profit organizations.
