In the most recent news of what has become the most newsworthy case in online casino history, David Carruthers, ex-CEO of a leading online casino company, has finally been released from jail on a bail amount of US 1 million dollars (GBP 530,000) by an American judge. This finally occurred after a month in custody by the US authorities. The native Scot and online casinos businessman is surely resting easier now that he can sleep in a hotel room, in a suburb of St. Louis known as Clayton.
Acquiring the money for bail, in which his attorney assures, was done under legal means, and meeting the conditions set by the judge were difficult tasks to do, but once achieved, Carruthers was finally able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The former online casino CEO will only be allowed to leave his hotel room to attend court, meet with his attorney, or leave for medical emergencies. Consequently, because of the arrest and trial, the online casino has closed all US-focused operations permanently.
Carruthers faces charges ranging from racketeering to fraud and conspiracy, and was arrested on July 16th by FBI and revenue service agents as he was passing through Dallas airport. He was on his way from London to the group’s online casino headquarters in Costa Rica. Mr. Carruthers had been detained in a medium-security federal prison in Fort Worth. What the future holds for this ex-CEO of a popular online casino is still unknown.
